Home About Me Games Music My Rants
First of all, I am a huge fan of metal.  While it is my favorite though, I do like a lot of other types of music.  That being said, there are some I really just don't like.  Emo for one, is not just terrible music being playing by mostly terrible musicians, but it has become the new pop.  I already don't like pop as it is.  That being said, I don't like rap either.  Here's a few things pop and rap artists have in common, they don't play instruments, they can't sing, and they care about money, not the fans.  I'm not saying there aren't a few actual bands that play instruments aren't anything like that, but it's mainly the mainstream ones.  As for emo bands, at least some stupid emo bands
of them can play instruments.  That doesn't exactly redeem the music though. The concept of emo music has become a fad and the music feeds off of whiny teenagers who live in a nice house, have good friends, caring parents, and for some spoiled reason think that "life is so dark and miserable, nobody understands me".  Not only does that piss me off, but people are getting goths confused with emos! Not only are goths and emos vastly different, but so is their music.  Go listen to Tristania and Theatre of Tragedy and then tell me if they are anything like emo crap that has been spreading like wildfire even through people that aren't even anything like emos.  I could go on but I think the picture above I found will sum it pretty good.
Wanna know the difference between a real band, and a pop one?  The real band started in a garage, and the pop band started with a contract.  Why listen to a band or musician who doesn't love their work?  Why listen to a band or musician that doesn't put their very existence into what they do?  Skill isn't everything though, if I only listened to every band that had skill and not because I like the way they sound then I would just be a poser.  There are bands that I know are great musicians and people ask why I don't listen to them.  The fact is, they might just not be my thing at the moment.  I've come back to a band after like a half year after a friend reccomended them to me, and then I liked them.  I am a firm believer that great bands can come from anywhere. Azathoth
The band Azathoth is not just a great band, but a great band from Fresno!  All they have out is a self titled EP release, but they are already one of my favorite Black Metal bands.  This band is a perfect example of why I love Metal, and that great bands can come from anywhere.  I don't just like them for their skill, I also like their sound.  The sound that defines them.  I love the energy, passion, and the melody that comes out in their music.  Any band that can do that to me, I love the music of..
